Venezuela's ousted chief prosecutor flees to Colombia

BOGOTA - 19 Aug 2017: Venezuela's ousted Chief Prosecutor Luisa Ortega has fled to Colombia with her husband.

Colombian migration authorities confirmed on Friday evening that Luisa Ortega Diaz and German Ferrer landed in Bogota aboard a private plane from Aruba.

The couple didn't request asylum, according to a senior Colombian official speaking on condition of anonymity .

Venezuela's new constituent assembly has dismissed earlier Chief Prosecutor Luisa Ortega, during its first day of work but she, along with other allies in the country refused the assembly's resolutions.
