CAIRO – 15 August 2017: The first factory in Egypt for producing antisera and vaccines is inaugurated on Tuesday with a capacity of 13 million ampoules monthly fulfilling local market needs, and achieving surplus.
Heba Wali, the CEO of the Egyptian Company for Antisera owned by the Holding Company for Antisera and Vaccines (VACSERA), told Egypt Today the factory had cost the state LE 51 million ($2.8 million).
The factory’s production would also fulfill the basic needs of 2.5 million children annually. The purpose of building that establishment is producing life-saving antisera.
Examples are anti-venom for snake bites, scorpion and bee stings, and vaccines and horse serum for tetanus and diphtheria.
The factory will provide for sovereign institutions as well as local, African, and Middle Eastern markets.
