Italy welcomes Libyan efforts to stop immigration

ROME - 14 August 2017: Italian Foreign Minister Angelino Alfano welcomed Libya's efforts to stop illegal immigration to Europe.

In statements carried by the BBC, he said that Libya is ready to work with Europe in the search and rescue operations.

Italy's parliament approved days ago a plan to send naval boats to Libya as part of efforts to stop migrants crossing the Mediterranean Sea.
