CAIRO - 10 August 2017: The Criminal Court of Beni Suef, in Upper Egypt, decided at Thursday sitting to hold the trial of Mohamed Badie, the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood and ninety-two others on September 28.
Mohamed Badie and the other suspects were imprisoned on charges of burning the Beba police station, the Real Estate headquarters and a nuns’ school after the breaking up of Rabaa al-Adawiya and al-Nahdha demonstrations on August 14, 2013, in what's known in the media as the "events of Beni Suef".
In the case, the 93 defendants include 25 imprisoned and 67 fugitives. The defendants include Abdul Azim al-Sharkawi, member of the Guidance Bureau, Nihad al-Qasim Abdul Wahab, secretary of the Freedom and Justice Party in Beni Suef governorate , Sayyed Heikal and Khalid Sayed Nagy, former members of the Shoura Assembly and Abdel Rahman Shoukri, a former member of the former Parliament.
