CAIRO – 10 August 2017: Government’s plans to create a new electric train to link between new cities in eastern Cairo and new administrative city have been agreed upon on Thursday by ministers of transportation and housing.

The new electric train is scheduled to be operating by 2020, carrying around 350 thousand passengers regularly coming from Greater Cairo to the new residential compounds and cities in eastern Cairo, where the new administrative city is located, along with leather ternaries city “Robeeki” and cities of Badr, Shorouk, Oubor and new Heliopolis.

This comes within the government’s view to support transportation options for the new cities' dwellers and to make travel to these cities easier for potential visitors and passengers, Minister of Transportation Hesham Arafat highlighted during his meeting with Minister of Housing Mostafa madbouly.

The New Administrative Capital is the government’s recent major project that spans over 700 square kilometers and is located between Cairo and the Red Sea. The new capital is set to accommodate seven million citizens upon its completion.
