CAIRO – 8 August 2017: The skies of Egypt and the rest of the Arab world will be met by a partial lunar eclipse 7 August during the evening. The lunar will last around two hours.
The partial eclipse reaches its peak at 6:20 pm GMT and 25 percent of the lunar disk will be located in the Earth's shadow.
will be easily seen by the naked eye, and does not require special equipment to be monitored. However, telescopes can be used to see more precise details. Unlike the solar eclipse, the lunar eclipse does not affect the eye at all and no safety measures will have to be taken.
This partial lunar eclipse occurs in the middle of the Arabian month when the earth is located between the sun and the moon. Yet, since these three objects do not form a perfectly straight line in space, only part of the moon disk moves into the earth's shadow.
This will be the last lunar eclipse of the year 2017, so be sure to keep your gaze upwards this evening.
