Mistakes of 1948 not to be repeated: Palestinian president

RAMALLAH - 5 August 2017: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas affirmed Saturday that Al-Quds is the eternal capital of the state of Palestine and "nothing else."

"We should preserve the victory achieved in Al-Quds to achieve another victory or to take another step forward," Abbas said in a speech to hundreds of Al-Quds residents at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah.

Abbas said "the mistakes of 1948 will not be repeated".

On the Gaza Strip, Abbas stressed that the Palestinian Authority would continue to reduce financial allocations to the Gaza Strip as long as the Hamas movement did not stick to the terms of reconciliation.
