ANKARA - 3 August 2017: The US embassy in Turkey denied on Thursday news reports on sending tanks and weapon shipments to the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in northern Syria.

In a statement, the embassy said it will continue to opt for a transparent policy with Ankara regarding the YPG armament in Syria.

Most of the US military aid, comprising light weapons and ammunition, aimed at supporting Arab Syrian coalition elements of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the statement added.

Weapons sent to the SDF were also aimed to support in the war against Daesh, it said.
