CAIRO – 2 August 2017: In statements to the state-owned news agency MENA, the head of the institute Hatem Ouda confirmed that the total solar eclipse will not be visible to sky-watchers in Egypt and other Arab countries.
Ouda furthermore added that the August total solar eclipse is one of the most important sky events; given the fact that it is the second largest solar eclipse in history following the one which occurred June 8, 1918.
He also stated that the next solar eclipse will take place in 2024.
On Monday, August 21, 2017 all eyes are set on North America, where it will experience the second largest, coast-to-coast total solar eclipse in history.
A solar eclipse takes place when the moon comes between the sun and the earth, blocking it from fully appearing on earth.
