Abu Dhabi - 2 August 2017: The United Arab Emirates condemned Wednesday North Korea's launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile, stating that the new test represents a challenge to the UN Security Council resolutions and a serious threat to international security and stability.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation emphasized the need to conform to the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, Emirates News Agency, WAM, reported.

The ministry also stated that violation of such norms is a threat and a flagrant violation of the UN Security Council resolutions and it undermines peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia.

The statement urged North Korea to adhere to the Security Council resolutions, calling for dialogue and diplomatic solutions to ease tension and maintain international peace and security
