Egypt counters illegal slaughter of donkeys by exporting them

CAIRO - 31 July 2017: General Organization for Veterinary Services, Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation studies the health procedures and veterinary requirements with any state that wants to import donkeys and mules, said the head of General Organization for Veterinary Services on Sunday.

The scientific committee of the General Organization For Veterinary Services agreed primarily last year on the offer made by one of the companies that exports the skins of donkeys to export 10 thousands donkeys to China to reduce the wastes of the donkeys slaughter and prevent illegal donkey meat trade.

Consequently, the Ministry of Agriculture has adopted conditions on donkey skin trade in Egypt that according to the law should be sold only in the zoo to ensure that they are from donkeys used for feeding predators to prevent donkey meat trade in illegal markets.

There are lots of campaigns in Egypt launched by Police supply against famous restaurants to prevent donkeys meat trade as eating the meat of donkeys are prohibited in Egypt according to Dar-Al-Ifta fatwa.
