CAIRO – 31 July 2017: Egypt condemned the terrorist attack that took place in the Somali capital Mogadishu, in which six people were killed and another twenty injured, according to a Foreign Ministry statement issued Monday.
Egypt affirmed its stance supporting the Somali government and people confronting terrorism, stabilizing the state and rebuilding the state’s institutions, the statement added.
Egypt also renewed its demand for the international community regarding countering terrorism and eliminating its sources of backing and financing.
On Sunday, a car bomb was exploded in Maka al-Mukaram Road, Mogadishu, killing six people and injuring another twenty. The road was crowded when the blast took place, as it caused a huge cloud of smoke, according to Reuters.
No party or group has claimed its responsibility for the attack until now; however, the Al-Shabaab militant group based in Somalia used to claim its responsibility for similar terrorist attacks that had taken place earlier, including the bombing of a Kenyan police station near the border with Somalia on July 5, which killed two police officers.
