CAIRO – 4 March 2026: Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, confirmed that navigation through the Suez Canal is proceeding normally in both directions, stressing that maritime services continue around the clock without disruption.

Rabie stated that 56 vessels transited the canal on Tuesday, with total net tonnage reaching 2.6 million tons. The northbound convoy included 24 ships carrying a combined net tonnage of one million tons, while 32 vessels crossed southbound with a total net tonnage of 1.6 million tons.

He noted that decisions by some major shipping lines to temporarily suspend transits through the canal remain contingent on regional security developments. The Authority, he said, continues active coordination with clients and international shipping operators to safeguard global trade flows and ensure supply chain sustainability.

Rabie also expressed hope for an improvement in regional security conditions, underscoring their direct impact on freedom of navigation.

Over the past three days, the canal recorded the transit of 100 vessels with a total net tonnage of 3.8 million tons, reflecting continued operational stability despite ongoing regional challenges.
