CAIRO – 29 July 2017: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain will meet in Manama on Saturday to discuss the latest developments on the Arab quartet’s boycott of Qatar, Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Saturday.

The Arab quartet’s meetings in Manama on Saturday and Sunday reflect the interest of the four countries in coordinating their positions, and reaffirming their demands to the State of Qatar, the statement read.

The Quartet also convenes to assess developments of the situation and to which extent Qatar is committed to stop supporting terrorism and negative interference in the internal affairs of the four countries.

On July 25, the Arab quartet added nine individuals and nine entities to their terrorist list, including three Yemeni and six Libyan associations to their terrorist list, stressing that "these new measures come within the framework of monitoring the counter terrorism approach that the four Arab nations determined."

On June 5, the four Arab nations severed diplomatic ties with Qatar on charges of funding terrorist groups and supporting extremists. Qatar has signed a counter- terrorism memorandum of understanding in partnership with the U.S. administration a few weeks ago.

Kuwait leads mediation efforts between the four Arab countries and the oil-rich state of Qatar.

The United States, France and Turkey have paid many officials visits to mediate and resolve the intra-Arab rift, but Qatar’s Tamim still insists on defying the Arab nations’ demands to dry up the sources of terrorism in the region.
