The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) conference
CAIRO – 27 July 2017: The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) and Arab Federation for Human Rights (AFHR) will file a suit before the International Court to pay $10 million compensation to the victims of terror attacks, according to joint statement issued Thursday.
The two human rights organizations decided to form a team of Egyptian, Arab and foreign lawyers responsible for taking legal actions before international courts in order to convict the perpetrators of terrorist crimes. They wanted also to hold the countries supporting terrorism responsible for compensating the victims of terrorist operations.
In the joint statement, they highlighted the importance of documenting terrorist crimes and the organizations and countries that fund terrorist groups such as Turkey and Qatar.
The Arab League should establish a fund to compensate victims of terrorist operations, they added.
Arab-Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) arranged a conference to legally support victims of terrorism, on Wednesday.
The conference was attended by lawyers, members of political parties, professors, human rights activists and members of the National Council for Human Rights (NCHR).
Diaa Rashwan, the head of the State Information Service (SIS), urged Egyptian House of Representatives in his speech in the conference to activate a constitutional Article that stipulates on legal compensation for victims of terror attacks during a conference Wednesday.
