CAIRO – 26 July 2017: British-Daily mail newspaper highlighted the video released July 24 by the Egyptian Defense Ministry, showing an armored tank running over a car lauded by explosives and four armed men.
According to the video caption on the Defense Ministry official YouTube channel, the armored tank driver saw the car that was coming towards their checkpoint in Arish city, North Sinai, targeting at least fifty to sixty people including civilians.
The driver, who was located 200 meters away from the check point moved towards the car after noticing four armed men inside it trying to target the civilians, so he decided to run over it in an attempt to defuse the terrorist attack.
According to the video, the car exploded shortly after running over it, killing at least seven people including two children.
A statement issued later by the army spokes person Tamer El-Refai said that, “the wide explosion that took place after running over the car indicates that it contained at least 100 kilograms of the explosives.”
Several military operations have been taking place during the past period in North Sinai confronting the terrorist, armed groups located there.
Wednesday Morning, Twenty four shelters for terrorists in North Sinai were destroyed by the army forces affiliated to the second field army. El-Refai said in an official statement that this military operation comes within “haq’ Al-Sahaied” (the martyr’s right) campaign which was lunched 8 days ago.

On July 16, the armed forces affiliated to the third field army succeeded to kill three dangerous takfiris and arrested one other during a shootout in a sweeping operation inside central Sinai. Also on July7, Egypt’s military forces killed at least 40 militants who had attempted to attack several checkpoints in North Sinai.
During the confrontations, a car bombing attacked a number of military troops, killing and injuring 26 personnel, Refaei added in his statement.
