Egypt’s Universal Health Insurance Authority Forum kicks off in new capital with PM in attendance

CAIRO – 9 February 2025: The annual forum of the Universal Health Insurance Authority (UHIA) kicked off on Sunday in the New Administrative Capital in the presence of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

Held under the theme "Pioneering Private Investment for Sustainable Universal Health Coverage," the forum reflects Egypt's commitment to ensuring health equity for all citizens.

The event aims to enhance partnership between the public and private sectors to achieve comprehensive and sustainable health coverage.

It will showcase global best practices in comprehensive health insurance and facilitate in-depth discussions to explore new avenues for collaboration with the private sector, ensuring that health services meet the aspirations of the Egyptian people for a fair and equitable health system.

The forum will feature a series of productive discussion sessions, bringing together experts and decision-makers from both sectors to establish clear foundations for strategic cooperation.

This collaboration is expected to accelerate the implementation of the comprehensive health insurance system and realize its sustainable vision.

Additionally, the forum is set to witness the signing of protocols and memoranda of understanding with several leading private sector entities, aiming to enhance private sector participation and foster fruitful collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure expanding high-quality health coverage.

The forum will conclude with a closing session, during which the outcomes will be reviewed, and key recommendations will be presented to strengthen national efforts toward achieving comprehensive health insurance for all Egyptians.

State officials attending the event include Presidential Advisor for Health and Prevention Affairs Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, and Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy.
