CAIRO – 3 February 2025: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty, discussed latest developments in implementing the ceasefire agreement in Gaza in a phone call with, Steve Witkoff, the US Special Envoy to the Middle East.
Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the call came within the framework of continuous coordination and consultation between Egypt and the new US administration, and as a follow-up to the call that took place between President Sisi and the US President Trump on February 1, and building on the positive dialogue witnessed by this call between the two presidents.
The official spokesman added that the call witnessed consultations between Minister Abdelatty and Witkoff on the latest developments in implementing the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and working to fully implement its three stages.
The Egyptian Minister also stressed the need to sustain and consolidate the agreement, and to allow the greatest possible amount of humanitarian and relief aid to enter the Gaza Strip at an intensive and accelerated pace to meet the needs of the residents of the Strip in light of the severe deterioration in the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
The official spokesman added that Minister Abdelatty also stressed the importance of the American role in ensuring the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, as well as finding a final settlement to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, achieving the desired permanent peace in the region, along with the security and stability that the peoples of the region have long aspired to, and ending the state of conflict that has existed in the region for decades, in full cooperation with the Trump administration.
