50 injured, sick Palestinians arrive at Rafah border crossing to be treated abroad

CAIRO- 1 February 2025: A total of 50 injured and sick Palestinian people have just arrived at the Rafah border crossing to receive medical treatment.

As per the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israeli, the crossing re-opened Friday to evacuate the Palestinians injure by Israeli forces.

Several Egyptian ambulances were at the Rafah border crossing and started transporting the injured and sick people from the besieged Gaza Strip.

One day before the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel came into force on January 19, 2025, Egyptian Minister of Health Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar visited the Rafa border crossing between Egypt and Palestine, and affirmed that Egypt is ready to provide all medical services for the Palestinian injured people due to the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, besides sending medical teams to the enclave if requested.

He added that if entry into the Strip to provide medical services is requested, the Egyptian Ministry of Health is ready with all its medical teams to do so, noting that Egypt has a complete map of all health work sites in Gaza.

Egypt has opened the registration for doctors who wish to volunteer to treat the wounded and injured as a result of the Israeli aggression inside the Gaza Strip, announced Head of the Egyptian Doctors Syndicate Osama Abdel-Hay on January 18, 2025.

“This initiative is part of the effort to compile lists of the required medical specialties, in line with the humanitarian and medical responsibilities that Egyptian doctors bear in supporting their Palestinian brothers,” he said in a press statement.

He noted that more than 2,000 are ready to volunteer and enter Gaza to treat the wounded.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza said on Saturday that three new Israeli massacres took place in Gaza, raising the number of martyrs to 47,460 hours before the ceasefire deal starts in hours. Meanwhile, the number of the injured people rose to 111,580 Palestinians since the outbreak of the Israel war on the besieged strip.

The World Health Organization has welcomed the planned evacuation, marking the first medical transfer of patients through the Rafah crossing since its closure in May 2024. This evacuation is set to take place on Saturday.
