CAIRO – 29 January 2025: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas expressed on Wednesday his deep appreciation to President Abdel Fattah al Sisi for Egypt's position rejecting the displacement of Palestinians.

In a telegram Abbas sent to the Egyptian President, he said that he highly appreciated Egypt’s stance against the displacement of Palestinians, which was affirmed once again today.

He described President Sisi statement, on Wednesday as a “renewal of Egypt's historical position in support of the Palestinian cause, which can never be compromised in any way.”

“These words have a great impact and effect on our people, and it is a position that is consistent with international law, which our people insist on,” Palestinian President said in his telegram.

He added: “We also appreciate Egypt's affirmation of support, for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and their attainment of freedom and independence, by ending the occupation and achieving peace based on international legitimacy resolutions, and for the countries and peoples of our region to enjoy security and stability, which is what we seek by all means to achieve.”

President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi stated Wednesday that the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza would be injustice that Egypt could not be part of, expressing confidence that cooperation with the United States is possible to establish peace in the Middle East.

The president made the statements during a joint press conference with his Kenyan counterpart who is holding a visit to Cairo for consultations on bilateral ties and regional issues.

President Sisi added that the displacement would also affect the Egyptian national security, revealing that Egypt would work with U.S. President Donald Trump to accomplish the two-state solution.
