CAIRO – 29 January 2025: A phone call took place between Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio Tuesday as they discussed the progress rate of implementing the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

The Egyptian minister stressed the importance of completing the three stages of the deal to ensure the hostage-prisoner exchange, return of Palestinians to their homes, and sustainable supply of humanitarian aid. He noted that such measures are essential to restore pacification and stability, and move forward with the two-state solution.

The minister underscored the necessity of preserving the Palestinian people's right to remain on its territories and reject relocation or displacement.

Minister Abdelatty and Secretary Rubio also conferred over the strategic partnership between the two countries, and ways to expand cooperation, which in turn, would consolidate the ability to face multiple regional challenges.

Since the start of the ceasefire on January 19, seven Israeli female hostages have been released in return for 290 Palestinian prisoners. In addition, hundreds of aid trucks kept flowing into the Strip.
