Egypt eyes collaboration with ILO to enhance work environment

CAIRO – 27 January 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty met Monday Secretary-General of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Gilbert Houngbo in Geneva, expressing keenness on joint cooperation to support creating decent job opportunities and enhancing the work environment in Egypt.

The minister showcased the establishment of 50 workers' syndicates in 2024, endorsement of the Maritime Labor Convention in the same year, and drafting of a bill on housekeepers that will soon be submitted to the parliament. Hence, he asked for technical support to ensure commitment to the convention's articles.
