CAIRO – 20 January 2025: The Red Cross said on Monday that release of the first batch of prisoners and detainees exchange deal was a complex process and required strict security measures to reduce risks to everyone, Al-Qahira News Channel reported.
“Our teams are ready to continue implementing the ceasefire agreement in Gaza until more prisoners and detainees are released and families are reunited,” Red Cross added.
On Wednesday, January 15, an agreement has been approved to halt war in Gaza with Egyptian, American, and Qatari mediation, after nearly 15 months of suffering and violence that led to the killing of more than 46,707 Palestinian people.
Qatari Prime minister Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani announced in a press conference that the joint efforts between Egypt, Qatar and the United States of America contributed to the success of the discussions and negotiations.
The deal came into force on Sunday January 19, as three Israeli female prisoners were released, and other 90 Palestinian prisoners followed them after nearly 7 hours of waiting.
The spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, Abu Ubaida said that the movement made every effort to preserve the lives of prisoners held in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.
He added in a speech, Sunday, commenting on the Ceasefire agreement in Gaza that Al-Qassam fought with all the resistance factions ‘as one’ despite facing an unequal confrontation, neither in terms of combat capabilities nor in terms of combat ethics; however, “our fighters fought with great bravery and courage until the last hours of the battle, and we are fighting in conditions that seem impossible.”
He stressed the commitment of all resistance forces to abide by all the terms of the agreed upon agreement, noting that this is contingent on the commitment of the Israeli occupation forces.
He added in his speech that “reaching an agreement to stop the aggression against our Palestinians has been their goal of for many months.”
