CAIRO - 19 January 2025: The death toll of Palestinians who have been killed by the Israeli forces since October 7, 2023 rose to 46,913 people, which is the latest toll announced by the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the besieged Gaza Strip after enacting the ceasefire in the enclave between Hamas and Israel.

This came in the daily statistical report for the number of martyrs and injured as a result of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip that lasted for 471 days.

On the first day of the ceasefire that came into force on Sunday at 11:30 am, the ministry announced that 14 Palestinian martyrs and 25 injuries have been admitted to the hospitals in Gaza during the past 24 hours.

The ministry added that a number of victims are still under the rubble and on the roads, and that the ambulance and civil defense teams are unable to reach them.

Meanwhile, the total number of the injured reached 110,750 people since October 7, 2023, the statement continued.

At least 10 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli strikes across Gaza since 8:30 am, the planned time of the start of the ceasefire, which was delayed by Israel as Hamas was yet to release the list of captives.

Hamas affirmed today their commitment to the ceasefire agreement, blaming “technical field reasons” for the delay.

The ceasefire in Gaza took effect on Sunday at 11:15 am local time (9:15 GMT) as Hamas submitted to mediators the names of captives set to be released today.

Joy floods the streets in Gaza as Palestinians celebrate the ceasefire.

Hamas's armed wing Al-Qassam Brigades spokesman Abu Obaida said captives to be released today are Romi Gonen (24), Emily Damari (28), and Doron Steinbrecher (31).

These three captives will be released in exchange for some 95 Palestinian prisoners, mostly women, according to a list published by the Israeli Justice Ministry on Friday.
