CAIRO – 16 January 2025: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdel Aati discussed on Thursday the developments of the Gaza ceasefire deal along with details of the hostage and prisoner swap agreement with US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken.
During a phone call, the US Secretary of State praised the pivotal role played by Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi in reaching the agreement, and expressed his country's appreciation for the tireless efforts made by Egypt to support the mediation efforts, which contributed to reaching the ceasefire agreement.
For his part, Minister Abdel Aati stressed the great importance of starting without delay to implement the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and the exchange of prisoners and detainees, and stressed the need for all parties to respect the terms of the agreement and work to implement its stages on the dates specified for them.
He also pointed out the importance of intensifying the access of humanitarian aid to all parts of the Gaza Strip during the coming period, and combining international efforts to rebuild the sector and rehabilitate its infrastructure and health care systems.
At the end of the call, Minister Abdel Aati expressed his appreciation for the cooperation with minister Blinken during his tenure, wishing him success as the US administration's term nears its end.
