Cairo – 25 July 2017: A garbage recycling plant will be built in Qalyoubeya governorate on an area of 50 feddans in Abou Zaabal. The plant will recycle solid, organic, and recyclable waste at a cost of LE 60 million.

Governor Mahmoud Ashmawy told press on Monday that the plant would absorb all wastes of the governorate amounting to 5,000 tons daily, according to El Masry El Youm.
Ashmawy added that studies of the project are being finalized, and that project would eradicate the problem of garbage accumulation in the streets.

Sell your garbage is a project launched by Cairo Governorate in early March. It aims to establish kiosks in different neighborhoods where people are encouraged to sell their cans, plastic bottles, paper and cardboard instead of throwing them away. The program has already started in two kiosks in the Heliopolis district of Cairo. Other kiosks are being prepared in different locations in the governorate.
