CAIRO – 15 January 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty received Tuesday Latvian State Secretary Andžejs Viļumsons lauding the growth in relations in the past period, and welcoming holding joint political consultations on Wednesday in Cairo.
Minister Abdelatty expressed aspiration that Latvia would contribute to the training of Egyptian medics and digitalization of the healthcare sector. In a related context, he showcased investment opportunities in the ICT sector, valuing the visit paid by Latvian ICT firms' delegations to Egypt in November 2024.
The minister further suggested establishing a joint business council in order to boost trade exchange, and Latvian investments in Egypt, expressing appreciation for Latvia's role in elevating ties between Egypt and the European Union (EU).
The two minister also exchanged views on regional and global affairs of joint concern, mainly the Gaza War, as well as updates in Syria and Ukraine.
