CAIRO – 14 January 2025: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call from US President Joe Biden on Tuesday as they stressed the need to reach an immediate ceasefire agreement in Gaza Strip to put an end to the serious humanitarian suffering of the civilians.
The Presidency official spokesman explained that the call addressed the intensive mediation efforts undertaken by Egypt, the United States and Qatar to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and exchange prisoners and detainees.
The two presidents also reviewed the latest developments in the relevant negotiations, and stressed the importance of the concerned parties' commitment to overcoming obstacles and showing the necessary flexibility to reach an agreement.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesman, added that President Sisi stressed in this the need to reach an immediate ceasefire agreement in order to put an end to the serious humanitarian suffering of citizens in the Strip, to allow humanitarian aid to enter without restrictions or obstacles, and to spare the region the consequences of expanding the scope of the conflict, and the serious repercussions that may result from that.
The official spokesman also indicated that the two presidents stressed during the call the importance of continuing to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and the United States in all fields, especially in light of the strategic relations that bind the two countries.
President Sisi also expressed to President Biden his sincere wishes for his success in his upcoming career, on the occasion of the approaching end of his term on January 20, 2025.
