CAIRO – 12 January 2025: The Ministry of Social Solidarity indicated in a press statement earlier this week that the amount of foreign funding to NGOs operating in Egypt had reached LE14.5 billion - divided upon 1,634 grants – up by LE5.5 billion compared to 2023.
The grants were mainly directed to projects pertinent to healthcare, development, job creation, refugees, and empowerment of women, children, youth, and disabled. The main providers belong to – from the largest – the United States of America, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, UN organizations, Germany, France, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and United Kingdom.
The ministry underlined that merely 0.3 percent of grants got rejected, mostly because of not submitting the necessary documents.
