CAIRO – 11 January 2025: If you’re gearing up for a vacation to the North Coast, like Alexandria or Matrouh, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. First, you might run into some light showers during your stay, and second, a mist could make visibility on the highways a bit tricky.

The Al Faida Al Kobra storm is set to hit starting Sunday, bringing heavy rain and southwestern winds to the North Coast over the next six days—if it arrives on schedule. Alexandria, Matrouh, and Damietta have all declared a state of emergency ahead of the storm and are rolling out rain response vehicles.

Expect a chilly start to your early mornings, with moderate temperatures throughout the day across the country, and warm weather in South Sinai and southern Upper Egypt.

Thinking about a getaway? South Sinai is calling, especially Sharm El-Sheikh, which is a hotspot for winter vacationers worldwide. Right now, it’s all sunny and warm there, with highs around 24 degrees Celsius and lows of 13.

On the other hand, Saint Catherine in Sinai is a whole different vibe—perfect for cold weather lovers. Nights are expected to be bone-chilling at -1 degrees, while daytime temps will hover around 15 degrees on Sunday.

Hurghada on the eastern coast is looking pretty pleasant too, with daytime temperatures reaching 24 degrees and cooler nights dropping to 13—ideal for holiday seekers.

If you're up for a day trip, Ain Sokhna could be your tranquil haven. Suez is expecting highs of 21 and lows of 10 on Sunday.

Looking ahead to the week, Cairo will see average highs of 21 and lows of 11, while the northern coast will also experience highs of 21 and lows of 10.

In northern Upper Egypt, expect highs around 23 and lows of 6, and southern Upper Egypt will bask in highs of 24-29 with lows of 12.
