CAIRO - 8 January 2025: The Holding Company for Serums and Vaccines (Vacsera) said that cervical cancer is the sixth most common type of cancer affecting women.

Vacsera added that the cause of 99 percent of cervical cancer cases is due to the human papillomavirus (HPV).

Vacsera advised girls from the age of 9 to receive the HPV vaccination, and advised women over the age of 30 to get tested.

Vacsera said: "The Egyptian Ministry of Health is currently in the 100 Million Healthy Lives Campaign, which is conducting free screening for the disease, because early detection helps in treatment, and vaccination prevents the disease in the first place."

Vacsera continued that there are two types of vaccination in Egypt:

- A dual type, which is for cervical cancer.

- A quadruple type, which is for cervical cancer and genital warts.
