CAIRO – 6 January 2025: During his visit to Muscat, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty met Omani Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs Fahd Bin Mahmoud al-Said to confer over bilateral relations and issues of joint concern.
The minister delivered the greetings of President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi to His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq, expressing appreciation for Oman's positive role on the international and regional levels. He also showcased the depth of bilateral ties, which was manifested in President Sisi's visit to Muscat in June 2022, and Sultan Haitham's visit to Cairo in May 2023.
Minister Abdelatty gave an overview of the economic, legislative and procedural reforms Egypt undertook to lure investments. He also offered a transfer of experience in the field of infrastructure, asserting Egyptian companies' readiness to participate in the execution of such projects in Oman.
On another level, the minister reiterated the importance of joint cooperation to consolidate Arab security, expressing Egypt's eagerness for coordination and consultation with Oman on steps that would strengthen the pillars of security and stability in the region, especially in light of the unprecedented turmoil the Middle East is experiencing.
The meeting included talks on the Palestinian Cause, Israeli aggression against Gaza Strip, navigation safety in the Red Sea, and updates in Syria, Yemen, Sudan, and Libya. The minister displayed the efforts deployed by Egypt to achieve de-escalation in the region, a ceasefire in Gaza, and prisoner-hostage swap deal. He also noted that the tensions in the Red Sea had caused a major drop in the Suez Canal revenues.
