CAIRO – 6 January 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty met Monday Omani Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion Qais al-Youssef to discuss bolstering economic cooperation as well as promising investment chances.
Minister Abdelatty commended the achievements Oman made working towards its 2040 Vision and that consists of economic reform. Hence, he shed light on the fields Egypt eyed for cooperation. Those are renewable energy, green hydrogen, maritime transport, logistics, food industries, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing medical devices.
The Egyptian minister also expressed interest in cooperation between the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCzone) and the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZD), and in a linkage between Oman's ports of Duqm and Salalah, and Egypt's ports of Alexandria and Ain Sokhna among others capitalizing on both countries locations at strategic waterways and straits.
The minister further underscored the importance of facilitating partnerships between the business communities in both states leveraging common free trade agreements.
Regarding national projects, Minister Abdelatty highlighted collaboration opportunities in the fields of road construction, railways, urban development, building smart cities, and infrastructure, saying he looked forward for Egyptian firms to take part in the mega projects Oman is set to implement in the coming period.
