CAIRO – 2 January 2025: Authorities in Las Vegas announced that investigations are ongoing into the Tesla Cybertruck explosion outside the Trump International Hotel Las Vegas in Nevada on Wednesday, as a possible act of terror.
Sheriff Kevin McMahill of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department stated in remarks to reporters that the investigation is also exploring any potential connections to the Wednesday truck attack in New Orleans.
In the Las Vegas explosion, the driver was the only fatality, while seven bystanders sustained minor injuries, according to US authorities. Tesla CEO Elon Musk unlocked the truck after it automatically locked following the explosion and provided authorities with video footage of the suspect at charging stations.
In New Orleans, a vehicle rammed into a crowd, resulting in at least 15 fatalities and injuring 30 others.
The suspect in the New Orleans vehicle-ramming attack has been identified by federal investigators as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a U.S. Army veteran from Texas.
The man died in a shootout with police, which also left two officers injured; however, they are currently in stable condition.
