CAIRO – January 1, 2025: As we kick off 2025, Egypt is bracing for some chilly daytime weather this week. The only exceptions are South Sinai, where the lovely city of Sharm El-Sheikh is located, and southern Upper Egypt, where it’s going to be warm.
Nights, however, are going to be pretty cold across the country, with frost expected in northern Upper Egypt, Central Sinai, and parts of the Western Desert, where some crops thrive, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA).
For the most part, it’ll be dry this week, but you might see some light to moderate rain today along the North Coast and northern Nile Delta. More rain is also forecasted for these areas on Sunday and Monday.
In Cairo and the Nile Delta, temperatures will hover between 19 and 21 degrees Celsius during the day, and drop to around 11-12 at night until next Monday.
The North Coast isn’t much different, with highs ranging from 18 to 21 degrees and lows between 9-11.
In the northern parts of Upper Egypt, expect highs from 19 to 23 degrees, with nighttime lows dipping as low as 5-7 degrees. If you’re in that area, make sure to bundle up!
Meanwhile, in southern Upper Egypt, home to the stunning Luxor and Aswan, warm weather persists, with highs between 22 and 26 degrees and lows around 9-10.
