More than 1,700 ambulances to secure roads, churches during Christmas, Minister of Health

CAIRO- 31 December 2024: Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, stressed the need to raise the state of readiness around churches and places of worship in conjunction with Christmas celebrations.

Abdel Ghaffar stressed on Tuesday the continuation of the work of the Emergency Room at the Ministry of Health around the clock, with the intensification of the deployment of emergency teams on the roads and main axes in all governorates.

This came during a meeting chaired by Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, Tuesday, to follow up on the implementation of the medical insurance plan for Christmas celebrations.

Khaled Abdel Ghaffar directed the directors of health directorates to follow up on the progress of field work in medical facilities during the holidays, to ensure the provision of high-quality medical services, pointing to the importance of continuous coordination between the Egyptian Ambulance Authority and the treatment sector, the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes, the Health Insurance Authority, and university hospitals, to ensure a rapid response to emergency cases.

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed the importance of intensifying the announcement of emergency numbers through the Ministry's official social media platforms, with the identification of the locations of specialized emergency departments such as poisons, stroke treatment, and burns, across the country. He also directed the increase of emergency concentration points on highways and main axes.

During the meeting, the Minister of Health and Population reviewed the plan for the deployment and positioning of ambulances on main roads and axes, and near churches, places of worship and public places, explaining that the plan includes 661 ambulances to secure churches, gardens and parks, and 1044 vehicles to cover highways and axes, pointing to the ongoing coordination with the Cabinet’s Crisis Room, and enhancing wireless communication with the emergency and civil defense sectors and health affairs directorates.
