CAIRO- 31 December 2024: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty had a phone call on Tuesday with Syria's newly appointed Foreign Minister Asaad al Shibani.

During the phone conversation, Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's solidarity with Syria and its unwavering support to the legitimate rights of the Syrian people, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf.

Abdelatty, meanwhile, urged all Syrian parties to put the national interest above any other considerations, added the spokesman.

He said that Egypt hopes that the political transition process in Syria would be comprehensive and that it will take place without any foreign interference, according to the spokesman.

The top Egyptian diplomat also stressed that the political process should adopt a comprehensive and inclusive approach for all Syrian national forces that reflects the societal, religious, sectarian and ethnic diversity in Syria, said the spokesman.

Abdel-Ati also stressed the need to allow the various national political forces to have a role in managing the transitional phase and rebuilding Syria and its national institutions so that it can regain its rightful regional and international status.

At the end of the call, both diplomates agreed to continue communication during the coming period.
