Egyptian president instructs containing inflation, funding private sector

CAIRO – 31 December 2024: President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi held Tuesday a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Hassan Abdullah, and Finance Minister Ahmed Kujuk.

The goal of the meeting was displaying the local and international economic status, impact on macroeconomic indicators, government's measures to shield the ongoing economic reform programme from the current regional and international circumstances, and steps made to leverage investment opportunities.

The president was also briefed on the fiscal and monetary policies, and efforts deployed by the government to bolster foreign reserves necessary to secure essential industrial inputs.

President Sisi instructed continuous coordination between the CBE and finance ministry in order to contain inflation, and provide funding to the private sector.
