Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdel Aaty and Ali Ehsasi, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and International Development Committee in the Canadian House of Commons
CAIRO - 30 December 2024: Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdel Aaty received Ali Ehsasi, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and International Development Committee in the Canadian House of Commons, on Sunday to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations.
They also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
Abdel Aaty expressed his aspiration to enhance various aspects of the distinguished relations between the two countries, highlighting the importance of intensifying economic cooperation and supporting trade and investment between Egypt and Canada.
He called for holding a new round of political consultations between the two countries in April 2025, noting Cairo's intention to send a delegation of Egyptian businessmen from the Egyptian-Canadian Business Council in parallel with the consultations to support coordination with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
The minister reviewed the measures taken by the Egyptian government to achieve political and economic reform, addressing the steps taken by Egypt to advance human rights.
He gave Ehsasi the third executive report of the National Human Rights Strategy, and reviewed the economic reform policies that encourage the business environment and support direct investment in Egypt.
Meanwhile, the decision to cancel visas for Canadian citizens came to encourage Canadian visits to Egypt, which helps stimulate trade, investment and tourism and advance relations between the two countries, according to Abdel Aaty.
