CAIRO - 29 December 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi was briefed by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Communications Amr Talaat briefed on Sunday on steps taken to implement Egypt's digital strategy to develop the outsourcing industry.
Sisi also followed up on efforts to improve coverage services and the quality of communications and the Internet all over Egypt.
He also said all necessary measures should be taken to encourage local and international investment in the fields of communications and information technology, and to intensify efforts to improve Egypt's position in global indicators for the communications sector. This is to consolidate Egypt's position as a regional center for communications, digital activities and services and information technology.
The President was also briefed on the launch of the second version of the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence, which is scheduled to be launched soon. It is aimed to employ artificial intelligence technologies to find innovative solutions to challenges facing the society, and to continue providing advanced computing infrastructure for government and private entities, start-ups, small and medium-sized companies operating in this sector, in a way that supports national economic development programs.
The meeting also reviewed aspects of cooperation between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and other ministries.
Projects undertaken by the Ministry of Communications in the field of digital transformation, the strategy for developing national post offices, as well as national efforts to localize mobile phone manufacturing were also covered.
The President directed to continue working towards the transformation into an integrated digital society, including providing digital services and data governance, expanding training and building digital capabilities through expanding applied technology schools and Digital Egypt creativity centers, and qualifying young people to obtain related job opportunities.
President Sisi also called for supporting programs of data protection, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence, stressing the importance of attracting more specialized international centers to work in Egypt in the fields of research and development, and in the most complex specializations in the communications and information technology sector.
