CAIRO – 26 December 2024: Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, reviewed tourism investment opportunities in the downtown area of Cairo Governorate, with a number of investors, during a meeting held on Thursday, in the presence of Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ibrahim Saber Khalil, Governor of Cairo, and a number of other officials.
The Prime Minister stressed that within the framework of the state's vision for optimal exploitation of all tourist areas, work is currently underway after evacuating the downtown area from ministries, to re-exploit it as hotels.
He pointed out that this meeting aims to follow up on the development work that has been carried out in the downtown area, in addition to presenting the investment opportunities offered in this area, indicating that these opportunities will be presented to various investors in a way that contributes to maximum benefit from them.
During the meeting, Governor of Cairo, Ibrahim Saber Khalil, presented a report on the ‘Khedivial Cairo’ Development Project, whose distinctive borders were approved as a distinguished heritage area in 2009 by the Supreme Council for Planning and Urban Development, as part of the broader project to develop and protect heritage Cairo in the downtown area.
The governor explained that in the ‘Khedivial Cairo’ area, during the period from 2015 to 2017, the facades of 300 registered and distinguished properties were renovated, in addition to developing 5 squares and 10 streets, and the first phase of the Nile Corniche and Tourist Walkway Development Project was opened in 2017.
