CAIRO – 26 December 2024: The Egyptian naval forces successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a quantity of hasish and hydro along the Red Sea coast, the Armed Forces’ Spokesman, Gharib Abdel Hafez, said in a Thursday statement.
“Suspicion arose regarding a fishing vessel, prompting the naval forces to deploy several units to intercept the suspected boat and conduct inspection procedures,” the statement said.
The naval personnel apprehended two individuals on board, who were found in possession of quantities of the aforementioned drugs, the spokesman said, adding that several mobile phones were also seized.
The individuals and the seized items were handed over to the relevant authorities for legal action, the spokesman added.
This endeavor comes in line with the directives of the Armed Forces General Command to intensify efforts to secure and protect the country’s borders across various strategic directions, the statement emphasized.
