Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi meets with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Education Mohamed Abdel Latif in Cairo, Dec. 25, 2024 - Presidency
CAIRO – 25 December 2024: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi discussed the potential for expanding Egyptian-Japanese schools as successful educational models in Egypt in a meeting with Minister of Education Mohamed Abdel Latif on Wednesday.
A statement by the Presidency following the meeting, attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Mabouly, commended these schools’ reliance on curricula designed in line with the latest global standards.
The Egyptian-Japanese schools have been operating in Egypt since the academic year 2017/2018, with 51 schools in 26 governorates as of this year.
A total of 13,600 students are enrolled in these schools, stated the Ministry of Education late in November.
The Egyptian-Japanese schools teach the new Egyptian curriculum dubbed "2.0", and Japan's Tokkatsu system, which consists of activities that focus on the development of the children's non-cognitive skills.
During the meeting, Sisi instructed ongoing efforts to improve the educational system, raise the quality of all educational components including students and teachers, and continue efforts toward digital transformation and enhancing the technological aspect of the educational process.
The goal is to create a better future for the nation and prepare highly-qualified generations in all fields, said the presidency.
The discussion also focused on the redesigning and balanced distribution of the scientific and knowledge-based content for secondary school grades. This aims to guarantee the students’ sustainable cognitive development, while ensuring non-repetitive, and rigorously reviewed content.
The meeting also discussed the integration of technology into the educational system. It reviewed the procedures followed to distribute tablets, during the current academic year, to target groups to ensure providing the students with the latest technological devices, thus achieving a significant leap in the educational process.
Sisi was briefed on the government’s measures to address challenges facing the educational process, in line with the state’s goals to improve and enhance the efficiency of the educational system.
The meeting reviewed the government’s programs to significantly increase the number of classrooms, reduce student density in the educational system as well as measures to address the shortage of teachers.
