Egypt expresses condolences to Azerbaijan over plane crash

CAIRO – 25 December 2024: The Arab Republic of Egypt, both its government and people, has expressed heartfelt condolences to the Republic of Azerbaijan following the tragic crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane. The aircraft, en route from the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, to Grozny, resulted in numerous fatalities and injuries.

Egypt has also extended its wishes for a swift recovery for all those injured in the incident. The statement reaffirms Egypt's solidarity with Azerbaijan during this difficult time.

An Azerbaijan Airlines plane crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan, on Wednesday morning, with early reports from the Kazakh Emergency Ministry indicating that at least 28 of the 67 people on board survived.

This suggests that over 30 passengers are likely dead, with authorities having recovered four bodies from the wreckage at the time of writing.
