CAIRO – 23 December 2024: Egyptian Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty and his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan talked over phone about the latest developments in Syria, said the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Monday.

The phone conversation addressed the latest miliary and political developments in Syria, the statement added.

Abdelatty affirmed that supporting the Syrian state in this critical phase in Syria’s history is a must. He also said that it is necessary to respect the Syrian sovereignty and unity of its territories and enable all the Syrian institutions to perform their roles.

The Egyptian Minister also said that it is vital for Syria to adopt a comprehensive political process with a Syrian leadership and participation of all components of the Syrian people to reclaim the stability across the country.

Both Ministers also tackled the latest developments in the Gaza Strip. Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s efforts with the concerned parties to reach an immediate and permanent ceasefire and delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip without any burdens.

The phone call was made after a Saudi delegation visited Syrian on Sunday and met with the Syrian de-facto leader Ahmed El-Sharaa, the leader of the Syrian opposition military operation that toppled the regime of the ousted President Bashar Al-Assad.
