CAIRO – 20 December 2024: Arish port on the North Sinai coast was closed, Friday due to the weather conditions in the region. The closure decision was made as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of maritime navigation and protect workers and equipment in the port.
The closure coincided with intermittent light to moderate rain in a number of areas in North Sinai, where the governorate's cities witnessed unstable weather with a noticeable drop in temperatures.
Navigation sources confirmed that work in the port will resume as soon as the weather conditions improve and things return to normal, noting that the port authority is following up on developments in coordination with the relevant authorities.
The North Sinai Governorate called on citizens to exercise caution while moving around in light of the current circumstances, stressing the continuation of the work of local agencies to monitor the weather conditions and take the necessary measures to confront any developments.
The Egyptian Meteorological Authority expected on Friday that the coming days will witness cold weather during the day in Greater Cairo, the North Coast, and northern Upper Egypt.
Moderate rain that may be heavy and thundery at times is also expected in areas of the northeastern coasts at intermittent intervals.
Light to moderate rain is expected in areas of the northwestern coasts, Lower Egypt, Canal cities, central Sinai and the Gulf of Suez at intermittent intervals. Light rain in areas of Greater Cairo at intermittent intervals.
