CAIRO – 19 December 2024: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the 11th summit of the Developing Eight Organization for Economic Cooperation (D-8) held in Cairo on Thursday.
The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that the two presidents exchanged views on regional developments and ways to restore peace in the region.
President Sisi emphasized the indispensability of defusing regional tensions and avoiding escalation. The President affirmed that it was necessary for all parties to act wisely in order to protect the region from dangerous confrontations that could have serious repercussions on peace and security in the Middle East and the world as a whole.
The meeting also touched on the situation in Palestine, with a review of Egypt's efforts to implement a ceasefire and deliver humanitarian aid. Additionally, the two sides exchanged views on the conditions in Lebanon and Syria.
The meeting also focused on joint efforts to explore opportunities for developing bilateral relations, aiming to serve the interests of both countries and contribute to regional stability.
