CAIRO – 18 December 2024: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Cairo, on a visit to Egypt, considered to be the first by an Iranian president in more than 11 years, during which he will participate in the 11th summit of the of the Developing Eight (D-8) Organization for Economic Cooperation.
Before leaving Tehran, Pezeshkian stressed that Islamic countries should cooperate with each other and put aside differences, adding: “During this visit, we will discuss the issues of Gaza, Palestine and Lebanon," according to the Iranian news agency.
“We will work to strengthen our friendly relations with Islamic countries to thwart the enemies' plot,” The Iranian president explained.
He stated that Iran is an active member of the Group of Eight Islamic Developing Countries. “These meetings can bring Islamic countries closer to each other socially, politically, economically and culturally,” Pezeshkian said.
