CAIRO – 18 December 2024: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi, asserted on Wednesday that relations with Indonesia are stable and based on mutual respect.
During a joint press conference with his Indonesian counterpart Prabowo Subianto, Sisi noted that thier talks underlined keenness on enhancing bilateral ties in various domains and elevating the level of relations to the level of strategic partnership, especially in the political, economic, trade, military and cultural domains.
Sisi also said Egypt was the first country to recognize Indonesia and establish diplomatic relations in this regard.
The Egyptian President added that the talks with his Indonesian counterpart witnessed an agreement that the high-level joint committee will be under the supervision of the leadership of both countries.
It was also agreed that the two countries will exchange visits to follow up developments and files of mutual concern.
President Abdel Fattah al Sisi said during the conference that he and Indonesian counterpart agreed to establish a logistics zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) in partnership with government companies and private sector companies in both countries.
President Sisi also stressed the importance of relations and cooperation between the two countries, noting that there are approximately 15,000 Indonesian students studying at Al-Azhar and that Egypt is ready to increase the numbers.
For his part, the Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said that his country seeks to develop relations with Egypt in the field of culture, along with exchangeing expertise in the fields of defense, economy and education.
“We appreciate Egypt's strategic role and its efforts to deliver aid to the Gaza Strip," Subianto said, adding that he agreed with President Sisi on the necessity of establishing peace in the region and resolving all conflicts.
Subianto thanked President Abdel Fattah al Sisi for his welcome and hospitality.
