CAIRO – 16 December 2024: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty received Monday a delegation from the French Senate's Foreign Affairs, Defense and Armed Forces Committee conferring over bilateral relations and the Middle East's recurrent updates.
The minister clarified the pillars of Egypt's stance on the conflicts in Gaza Strip, Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, and Libya, noting that the country's foreign policy is rooted in backing the nation state concept, preserving state institutions, sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, and international law.
Minister Abdelatty said that Egypt had continued the economic reform programme, offering investment incentives, in spite of recurrent regional crises. Hence, he stressed the salience that France would back Egypt at the EU, particularly on the front of all six axes included in the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement.
Those are political relations, economic stability, investments and trade, migration, security, people and skills.
In a related context, Minister Abdelatty further showcased that Egypt hosts millions of refugees, and migrants, which puts a strain on the country's economic capabilities, and thus, requires more support from European states. He also underscored Egypt's role in combating terrorism and extremism, not just through security measures but also through a socio-economic approach.
